Paediatrics at PGH Hospital, West Delhi

When your child is unwell, you do not want to wait. PGH has a full paediatric department in Uttam Nagar with a paediatrician on call 24 hours, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) on the same floor as the labour room, and a separate paediatric emergency for kids who need to be seen now.

Dr. Naveen Rana is our senior paediatrician.

What we treat

Newborn care (Neonatology and NICU).

Routine newborn check-ups, jaundice management, feeding problems, and intensive care for premature babies or newborns who need extra support. The NICU is on the same floor as the labour room, so a baby in trouble does not need to travel.

Paediatric emergencies.

Fever, breathing problems, dehydration, accidents, and poisoning. The paediatric emergency runs 24 hours, every day.

Vaccinations.

The full IAP-recommended schedule from birth through adolescence. We keep a vaccination card for every child and send a WhatsApp reminder before the next due date.

Child nutrition and growth.

Tracking weight, height, and milestones at every visit. Dietary advice for picky eaters, underweight children, and children with diabetes or allergies.

Developmental paediatrics.

Screening for delays in speech, motor skills, and behaviour. Early referral to therapy when needed.

Paediatric surgery.

Hernia, undescended testis, circumcision, and other common paediatric surgical conditions, done in a child-friendly day-care setting where possible.

Adolescent health.

A separate clinic for teenagers covering puberty, mental health, sleep, and lifestyle. Parents can sit out for the consult if the teen prefers.

How we work here

Children are not small adults. The whole department is set up for kids:

  • Child-friendly consultation rooms with toys and a calm tone.
  • Vaccinations done by paediatric nurses trained to keep the child distracted.
  • The NICU and labour room are on the same floor, so the paediatrician is at the delivery within minutes.
  • A paediatrician is on call 24 hours for emergencies and admitted children.

PGH follows the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) recommended schedule. This includes BCG, Hepatitis B, OPV, IPV, DTP, Hib, Pneumococcal, Rotavirus, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, HPV, and the boosters. Optional vaccines like flu vaccine are discussed and offered when appropriate.

Yes. The NICU at PGH is on the same floor as the labour room and is staffed by paediatricians and neonatal nurses around the clock. We handle most preterm babies; very low birth weight or complex cases may be referred or co-managed with a tertiary unit.

Bring your child immediately if there is high fever in a child under 3 months, fast or laboured breathing, persistent vomiting and dehydration, a seizure, severe pain, a head injury, or a swallow of medication or chemicals. If you are unsure, call (966) 718-2878 and we will guide you.

Yes. Both Hindi and English are spoken across the paediatric department. Punjabi is also spoken by some of our doctors.

Picky eating is common between ages 2 and 5 and is usually not dangerous if the child is growing well. We check weight and height at every visit and watch the trend. If the trend is dropping, or if the child has other symptoms, we investigate further.

Routine follow-up within 7 days of a paid consultation is included. After that, follow-up visits are usually charged at a reduced rate. Ask the front desk when you book.
